Inorganic Crystalline Framework Materials Lab

Science Student

I am Subhradeep Mistry, currently working as an assistant professor of chemistry at HNBGU (SRT campus, Tehri). Before joining here, I worked as an assistant professor at Ramananda college and as a technical service specialist at Sigma-Aldrich (Merck KGaa) in Bangalore for 2.5 years. I have over 7 years of research experience and more than 3 years post-Ph.D experience in diverse positions. I received my Ph.D degree in chemical sciences from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. My doctoral dissertation topic was synthesizing and characterizing new crystalline inorganic-organic hybrid materials and understanding their structures and properties.

Research Interests

As an experimental chemist, the first thing I love is mixing chemicals to form new crystalline multi-dimensional inorganic-organic hybrid materials. It's truly a joyous journey from mixing the right chemicals, solvents, setting an ideal condition, and patiently watching the growth of tiny crystals on the edge of the culture tubes. My focus is to synthesize new metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) or coordination polymers (CPs) and study their structure-property relationship.

MOFs are a unique class of porous materials that are synthesized using metal ions which acts as a node and organic linkers. By judicious selection of organic linkers, one can control or design the final structure of MOFs as well as their porosity. Its properties can further be tuned by pre-designing or post-synthetic modifications. These features make MOFs an ideal choice for the development of multifunctional materials.

I am Vikhyat, joined in this group as a research associate-I in 2024 March under the SRG grant.
I always wanted to contribute for the society that’s what really motivated me to involve in research. World around us is getting tougher every day so i manifested to contribute for  sustainable future via my research work on MOFs. Currently, I am focusing on desigining new MOFs efficient for cascade type of catalytic reactions. In future, i wish to be a researcher and tutor of chemistry.

My name is Suyash Bahuguna, and I’m currently pursuing my Master of Science (MSc). I’ve always been deeply curious about the world around me—especially about new discoveries and the science that shapes them. This curiosity naturally draws me toward understanding molecules, their intricate structures, and how even the smallest changes at the molecular level can lead to remarkable change in their bulk properties. The desire to keep learning and uncovering new possibilities constantly motivates me to explore and contribute to research. I want to become a professor in molecular chemistry. Currently, I am synthesizing new MOFs focusing on the area of mixed metal MOFs, Lanthanide MOFs for their optical and catalytic properties.
